No, Seriously Lionsgate, Eff You

I’m a television-watching dude.  I was a binge-watcher before that was even a thing.  I consume television the way some people consume alcohol.  Television is one of my vices. 

And Mad Men is one of my favorite shows.  As much as I love Mad Men, the dvd release of the six season has left me rather sour.  Allow me to explain.

First let me give you some back-story.

By this point anyone reading this blog should be well aware that I’m a huge fan of ice cream and frozen desserts in general.  They make up the majority of our Monday Munchies features.  I dig putting that stuff in my mouth. 

But something happened to me on Monday that shook me to the core.  It jostled my faith in humanity and really caused me to question where we are as a society. 

This is my story. 

TV Week – Five Other Shows Netflix Should Resurrect

So by now everyone has been elated and deflated by the return of Arrested Development.  At some point I’m going to jot down my ideas on the whole thing, but that’s going to have to wait until I’ve finished watching. 

But of course, being the positive guy that I am, I’m not going to dwell how Arrested Development misfired.  No, I’m going to turn my attention to other shows that Netflix could possibly bring back from the dead. 

Remembering – The Used Section At The Sound Garden

Call me a dinosaur but I still buy cds.  I dig them.  I like having physical copies of music in my hand.  Don’t get me wrong; I get stuff digitally too.  But if given a choice between buying an album, single or EP on itunes or on a cd, I’m opting for a cd.

And during my time in Baltimore I fell in love with The Sound Garden.  It’s my Mecca.  It’s my idea of Heaven.  It’s easily one of my favorite places to spend money and it’s not uncommon for me to drop two bills in an afternoon. 

No joke; I went to The Sound Garden on 9/11.  On the 9/11.  That’s how much I enjoy going there. 

But something happened on my last trip to Baltimore that may have changed everything. 

R.I.P. Jack Klugman

Obviously, we at Fish & Spaghetti are saddened by the passing of Jack Klugman. 

I’ve been a fan of his for decades and I spent summer afternoons watching The Odd Couple, which helped shape my comic sensibilities.

Eff Whole Foods

Does that look like "cheese and jalapeno to you?

One of the joys of having a blog is having someplace to vent. For instance I could craft an entire post about the buggery of Blogger's new interface. It blows, sucks balls, whatever euphemism you want to use, it's horrible.

But this isn't about the truly retched nature of Blogger's new interface, it about my completely losing faith in Whole Foods.

Humans are inherently flawed. We all have our shortcomings and demons. In that respect Whitney Houston was no different then any of us. Despite being an immensely talented international superstar and selling over 100 million records, she couldn't shake her addictions...

Bonus Track Flimflam

So, tonight was goofing off and looking for music from Breaking Bad's fourth season to add to my collection.  I went to the Breaking Bad site and scoped out the detailed list of a) the music b) the scenes it was in and c) where to buy it.

Naturally this lead me to iTunes where I fell down a rabbit hole of music.  But once I managed to regain my senses, I was struck by how angry I'd become.  And it was all because of bonus tracks.

The Rubicon Conspiracy

I like watching TV.  Sometimes it's for entertainment like when I watch Fringe or Parks and Recreation.  Sometimes it transcends entertainment and becomes inspiration like Mad Men and Breaking Bad.

I'm always on the lookout for a good new show.  Given my love for Mad Men and Breaking Bad I was very interested in Rubicon.  It was AMC's third foray into original programming.  Chances were, I was going to enjoy it.

Monday Missing Munchies - Häagen-Dazs' Peppermint Bark

One of the cooler aspects of the holidays is that "seasonal" flavors get released.  I know people who crave a Pumpkin Spice Latte from Starbucks and I myself am a huge fan of sweet potato pie.

But one of my true delights this time of year is Häagen-Dazs' Peppermint Bark.  I love it and it's only available from November to the end of December.  So when it's out not only do a gorge myself, but I tend to stock up as well.

Remember Skip Serpico’s Concert Adventures? Remember how I used to go to concerts on a semi regular basis? Well those days appear to be over.

And remember when I told you how I was Concert Cursed? Um, it’s looking like that’s a pretty accurate assessment of the situation.

Monday Missing Munchies - Duncan Hines Oven Ready Brownies

I love brownies.  Technically blondies are my favorite baked good, but brownies come a close second, mainly because of their abundance.  There's really nothing better than a great brownie.

But being a lazy person, the thought of actually making a batch of brownies is unappealing.  So when I first heard about Duncan Hines Oven Ready Brownies, you can imagine my elation.

Breaking The Law?

The Fall television season is in full swing.  There are some shows that I watch because I love and others I watch because I feel obligated.  Watching tv can be like a chore.

And because of my hectic schedule, I'm perpetually playing catch up with my tv viewing.  As a result I watch a ton of shows online.  And usually I watch things on Xfinity.com, because my internet flows from Comcast.

However some shows aren't on Xfinity...

Remembering - Steve Jobs

It's sort of weird because originally I planned to write something about the iPhone 4S and how I was tempted to get one now that Sprint is going to offer them.  I was going to explore my thoughts and conflicts about the whole thing.

And then I heard Steve Jobs had died.

Give that, I figured I'd reflect on the impact Steve Jobs has had on my life.

Twitter Tuesday - #occupywallstreet #toomuchdoubt

Twitter can be an interesting place.  Much like anything in the modern world it is what you make of it.  It can be a useful tool for gathering instant feedback and having your finger on the pulse of the country.

Or you could follow Lil Duval and washed up porn stars.

But this past week, instead of being the venue for the story, Twitter was the story.

Back on My Bowl Sh!t

So, as I recounted two weeks ago, I lost something very close to me.  It was a devastating day in my personal history and I day I doubt I'll ever forget.  It's no exaggeration that it's a day that will live in infamy.



But yesterday I decided that I was hit up a Tom Felton double feature of the final Harry Potter and Rise of the Planet of the Apes.  And I decided that I was going to check them out at White Marsh.  Conveniently enough, there's an Ikea in White Marsh...

Remembering - My Favorite Bowl

I hadn't planned on writing anything today.  Last night, for about a second, I thought how cool it'd be to having something up on the blog for every day this week.  Then I came to my senses.



However just ten minutes ago, the world as I knew it ended.



I broke my favorite bowl.

Watch Wait For The Throne

By the time you read this people will be slathering praise upon Watch The Throne.  People will be calling it an achievement for Kanye West (high praise) and Jay-Z's best album in years (completely believable.)

I will not be one of those people.

In fact it's highly unlikely that I'll be picking up the album before the month is almost over.  Allow me to explain.

Saying Good-Bye To Conan

 So, I've just finished watching The Late Show with David Letterman and now I'm watching Late Night with Jimmy Fallon.  It's my late night routine and honestly it's how I keep abreast of current events.

There was a point in time when Conan figured into the mix but a couple of months back I made one of the most difficult decisions that I've ever had to make in my life; I cut Conan out of my viewing schedule.
