My Latest Music Discovery

I’ve got some awesome memories to songs that were considered old before I was even born, and that feels weird to say.  But it’s honestly 100% true.  Let me explain. 

In the past six months I’ve grown quite fond of oldies, specifically music from Rock & Roll’s first decade.  That’s right; I’ve gotten hooked on Sirius/XM’s 50’s on 5 station.

Why I Dig Fallon

I feel like crap. My allergies are killing me and my allergies never act up. But I've been dying all day. As such I don't really feel much like writing tonight. I'm sorry, I'm just not feeling it.

But I did watch this inspired bit on Jimmy Fallon last night. I know it was a repeat, but I saw it when it originally aired too. I told Jay1 about it. And now I want to share it with you. Sometime Fallon's bits are hit and miss, but this one was so ballsy and out there that it slayed me.

Thus I give you all you're going to get today. Catch you next week.

Skip Serpico's Concert Adventures - Robyn @ Ram's Head Live 2/1/11

I can't really explain why I chose to make Swedish singer Robyn my first concert of the year. I hadn't heard any of her critically acclaimed recent stuff. I'm not really a big fan of pop music.

But one of my cousins had been raving about her for the past few months. On various forms of social media he made posts proclaiming how deserving she was of a larger audience and how people should give her a shot.

So I saw she was coming to Ram's Head Live and decided to do just that.

I know I'm late, but I'm slayed by this clip.  It looks like a crappy Sci-Fi channel rip off of The Terminator, but it's apparently the Highest Grossing Film Ever in India.

If Not For Maxim… – In-N-Out’s Secret Menu

As longtime Fish & Spaghetti readers recall, I’ve been saddled with a subscription to Maxim magazine. Maxim is easily the most embarrassing thing I get delivered to crib, and I not only subscribe to both Wizard and Toyfare, but I also get mail order lube.

But in order to make lemonade out of lemons and perhaps get a bit more “Alpha Male” personality-wise, I’ve made a concerted effort to actually read every issue of Maxim that I’ve received.

A Heap of Ketchup - Glee

So, Friday Jay1 and I were talking about the awesomeness that is Party Down (a show that we will really have to write about at some point) and I mentioned how the show Greek existed in the same tv universe (which, being a fan of both shows, slayed me).

Only Jay1 thought I was talking about Glee. So for a solid minute we were talking, responding and conversing, but we weren't communicating. Once we figured out that we weren't talking about the same show I said; "Yeah, I've been meaning to give Glee a try."

So I did.

Wild Pitch Wednesday – The Scoop

Things at Stately Fish & Spaghetti Manor can get hectic. Pitches at thrown around with reckless abandon at such speeds that it's amazing no one's lost an eye yet. Seriously, it's a flurry of ideas.

Which leads us to our latest Wild Pitch. It's actually one that never made it too far. In fact it was decidedly vetoed by Jay1 who felt that Chet's rendition of "Crack a Bottle" was a better idea. And we all know how that turned out.

But let's not dwell on The Debacle, let's get to my idea.

The Best Show That You're Not Watching - Greek

I know, I know; I'm supposed to be a television snob. I'm the guy who wrote about the criminally slept on Thief and marks Brotherhood, Breaking Bad, Huff and The Wire as some of his favorite shows. So why would I be proclaiming ABC Family's Greek as one of "the best shows that you're not watching?" Because it's actually a really good show.

And I do realized the demographic that I'm write for, so I'll give you three reasons why you should be watching show.

Wait a Minute Mr. Postman!

This economic downturn has finally hit home. Don't get me wrong, I've had to tighten my belt like everyone else, I know things are tough all over.

But I'm talking about the folding of publications. Obviously, you're reading this, thus I'm a writer. But what many of you may not know is that Skip Serpico is also a reader. More than that I'm a subscriber. And one of the magazines that I subscribe to folded earlier this year.

However nothing could prepare me for what I found in my mailbox last week.

Black (Napolean) Dynamite

Hey, you guys see the trailer for that new movie "Black Dynamite" starring Michael Jai White?! It's been floating around the net for a few months now.

It's a parody of Blaxploitation movies from the 70's, but the way it's filmed it looks just like an old movie from back in the day! It looks mad funny!

You know what? We think that this movie is gonna be one of the funniest movies of the year! You know what else? We're preemptively letting you all know, 3 months in advanced, that if you're not careful in a few months you will be considered a complete douche because you like this movie.

Remembering - BET: Uncut

There's been a lot of death recently. Michael Jackson, Billy Mays, that chick from the poster in the 1970's, TV's drunkest sidekick. And today we at Fish & Spaghetti mourn another passing, the passing of BET: Uncut.

Sure it was a programming block, but it was a programming block that featured some of the worst looking videos, and frankly video hoes, ever. BET: Uncut was a program that didn't care about taste or standards or quality of any kind. And what BET: Uncut offered was hands down the best smut available on free cable in the middle of the night.

Twitter Tuesday - SouljaboyTellEm's Meltdown

So, a funny thing happened in the wee hours of the morning on Thursday; SouljaboyTellEm had a complete meltdown on Twitter. It was hilarious. It was tragic. It was possibly a better train wreck than the BET Awards.

Pringles: Perfecting Perfection?

I didn't think it was possible but the people at Pringles improved upon perfection. Seriously, I've got no idea how, but they've actually made their chips crispier, which in turn has made those hyperbolic paraboloids even more delightful and less resistible.

I'm dead serious.

You Know Why Death Wish II is Pretty Awesome?

The love that Fish & Spaghetti has for the most tragic moments of Paul Kersey's life is pretty well documented. So it should come as no surprise that I've also got love for Death Wish II where things go horribly astray. Again.

To Watch or Not To Watch...

I'm a fan of TV. Yes, it's the idiot box, the boob tube, the worst babysitter and it's probably single-handedly responsible for the lack of civility in the country, shortened attention spans and over sexualized youth, but you've got to admit that it's a pretty awesome way to kill time.

A Side of Ketchup: Heroes

I really don't know why I still watch Heroes. Honestly, I can't think of one character that I really care about. I don't really care for the actors or even the writers. But I am a fan of the concept of "super-heroes" and so I watch the bloody program.

Cliché Buffet...

I can't front, I love this video by Damn D. I love it like I love to drink. And smoke. And eat red meat. And stay up late. And listen to Project Pat. And all the other things that I know better than to do.
