The Stroke Of Midnight

First of all, I guess I wasn't paying attention because I thought Dick Clark was dead, no bullshit.Second, When I saw him counting down to the New Year, I was disturbed and creeped out to say the least. I mean, God bless him for being able to do it and surviving his stroke and all that but I was irritated that his presence on the TV was so distracting. I mean it caused me to lose track of everything I wanted to reflect on as I watched the ball drop.

Here's The thoughts that crossed my mind, in order, as I watched Dick Clark on TV last night:

1-I wonder if I'm gonna make any resolutions this year, holy shit, I thought Dick Clark was dead!
2-Wow he looks good for a dude who had a stroke, oh wait he sounds awful and his teeth look crazy.
3-This is gonna fuck around and depress my whole evening, what kinda bullshit is this?
4-I wonder if his appearance on the show is a testament to his work ethic or if he's just such an ego maniac that he can't let go of it?
5-It's amazing how expressive his face is, he's able to show a full range of emotions with his eyes and eyebrows, he probably worked on that for months.
6-I'm sure he's insane, there's no way I would appear on TV like that. Didn't anyone tell him how disturbing this looked?
7-I wonder if I should learn something from this? Like, "never give up", or "fuck what anyone thinks about you" or something. probably. I'm sure it's one of those.
8-It look cold as hell out there, I'm glad I stayed in.

So thanks Dick Clark, your creepy, unsettling appearance on the New Years Eve countdown or whatever reminded me to persevere and to not care about what other people think of me.

Happy New Year Everyone!
