Hip Hop is Finally As Big As Throat Singing In Obscure Parts Of Canada...

So the new Premier of Nunavut, Eva Aariak has come out in favor of funding hip hop workshops as a way to reach Nunavut's large and growing youth population.

It was recently found out that over half of the 30,000 residents of the 10 year old, 750,000 square mile Canadian territory are 25 or younger and Hip Hop is now as popular as Inuit traditions like throat singing.

I loved learning that not only does throat singing still exist out there, but it’s so damn popular they used it as a gage when mentionioning that Hip Hop is just as popular. Wrap your head around that.

When talking about the federally funded workshops which are intended to prevent suicide, crime and substance abuse as well as promoting healthy living, Aariak said:

"We have the youngest population in our nation and we have to be innovative and creative.... Doing what they like to do…"

So that makes it unanimous, Hip Hop is not dead, it's just living in Nunavut.
