The Angry Whopper.
At this point, the "Limited Time Only", specialty type of burgers and sandwiches are the highlight of the fast food experience for me and pretty much the only reason I ever go, so after reading about The Angry Whopper on That Bootleg Guy's Blog yesterday I was excited to try one today. Me and the Fish and Spaghetti staff decided to hold our Wednesday meeting at the Burger King today and I got a chance to get my greedy hands on one.
First, I'm not even gonna complain about how shitty the actual burger looks because I'm old enough to ever expect my burger to ever look like the picture but damn, lets take a quick look at that thing. Seriously.
So they failed the presentation, but lets talk about the taste, the Angry Burger is advertised as being some kind of bad-ass spicy sandwich with "spicy crispy onions, jalapeƱos, pepper jack cheese, bacon, tomatoes, lettuce, mayonnaise, and spicy Angry Sauce".
The "Angry Sauce" was OK but bordering on wack and not very spicy at all, the pepper jack cheese was so subtle that I forgot that it was supposed to be spicy and it was also a little waxy, the crispy onions were wilted and tasted like having soggy fries in my sandwich, and the bacon was just OK, they could have left it off and I wouldn't have noticed.
Midway through the burger I realized that even though I was disappointed, I'm greedy enough to give it another shot because I can see how under different circumstances it could maybe have been better.
Like maybe if I went to a different Burger King it could end up being less soggy and that could change everything because it didn't really taste awful. It was just disappointing, and most of my problems with it where textural and the weak "spicy" sauce and general lack of heat throughout just made me want to go get a Spicy Baconator from Wendy's.
Actually, the Spicy Baconator from Wendy's is the best burger out, there, I said it.
And now that I think about it and look at the picture, the "Angry Whopper" is clearly biting off the Spicy Baconator! Just look at it! with the exception of the Wendy's burger having an extra patty (which is fine) and not having any of those stupid onions (which is even better), it's the same damn thing!
Well that settles it and now I HAVE to compare them head to head.
The Spicy Baconator -VS- The Angry Whopper, See you next Wednesday.

Not sure how the Spicy Baconator escaped me up to this point. Looks like I'll have to perform a similar taste test and see which pissed-off burger is better.
ReplyDeleteThat burger looks sloppy and disgusting...meaning it officially has my attention. I'd try it...if only for the crispy onins/soggy fries that I won't enjoy while eating it, but end up craving at 2am.
ReplyDeleteit seems that all of these fast food places copy one another and the copy is NEVER as good as the original.
