Remembering – The Right Click

So, this past week I became a member of the “I’m a Mac” club. Now I’m not saying that I happened upon this MacBook in a library in Charm City, but I am saying that people should be more careful with their belongings and more mindful of their surroundings.

Enough about that, my point is that for all of the awesome things that this computer can do (and it can do plenty) I miss the that warm reassurance that I found in my PC’s “right click.”

Case in point; my spell check doesn’t recognize “PC’s.” In bygone days I could have simply right clicked the word and received some spelling options. But those days are over.

Just a few moments ago I had to highlight something that I was going to cut and paste from one window to another. But without my right click option I spend more time than it would have taken me to retype what I intended to cut and paste.

Sure, eventually I found the shortcut keys of Command C and Command V, but that’s not the point. The point is that while I’ve gained the apex of protection against viruses, various multimedia applications and possibly best of all, attained some degree of “cool”, I’ve lost the ability to right click.

It’s like getting to be Batman with all of his skills, resources and gadgets, but losing the use of your legs. Isn’t it a net gain of zero?

Certainly some of you reading this can understand the incomparable convenience of just highlighting and right clicking. It's what made writing so easy. It's what made blogging so easy. And now it's gone and I'm missing it like 50 Cent misses his thongs of fans.

Crap, I just realized that I’ve got to cut and paste this thing into blogger. There’s a good chance that you’ll never read this.
