My Five Favorite Moments from the Fifth Season of Breaking Bad

Given that tonight marks the beginning of the end for Breaking Bad, I figured that it was an apt time to note my favorite moments from the first half of the final season.

It’s happening now for a couple reasons.  Firstly, I’m a huge procrastinator and this is the last possible moment for it to still be relevant.  But I’m also getting it done because I’m making a genuine effort to try to lock down some positive habits, and more writing is one of them.

My Five Favorite Moments From Breaking Bad's Fourth Season

I've literally been putting off writing this for six months.  Well, maybe I've been meaning to write this for six months.  Anyway, it's been six months since Breaking Bad's fourth season wrapped and I've finally decided to share my favorite moments of the season.

I guess I should add the disclaimer that these are literally my five favorite moments of the season.  They aren't going to be huge spectacular moments, but they are my favorite moments.

Friday Face-Off - Gus Fring vs Hank Schrader

They've been two of the most riveting characters to watch this season on Breaking Bad.  They're also two of the most diametrically opposed characters on the show; if you're rooting for one that means you're rooting against the other.

We at Fish & Spaghetti are torn; should be be Team Hank or Team Gus?  We figured we'd dust off the ol' Friday Face-Off to help settle things.

What's that, you'd forgotten about the Friday Face-Off? Don't sweat it, we won't take it personally.  Would you care for a shot of Zafiro Anejo?  C'mon, even the bottle's a work of art.

You'll Always Be Missed

He was one of the best who ever did it and while we all saw his death coming, it didn't make his demise any easier to take. His impact on our world is omnipresent. He had a beautiful voice and an ear for music. And he had such eclectic taste.

So we felt it only right to honor him by showing what is quite possibly his finest hour.

Thoughts on "Box Cutter"

I was really trying my best not to overdo the posting on Breaking Bad. I mean, we've blamed it, anticipated it, learned from it and done our best to predict it.

Yet here we are.  I'm offering up my thoughts on the first episode of the fourth season.

Obviously I've got no control over my impulses.

Four Predictions for Breaking Bad's Fourth Season

Look, we are days away from the season premiere of Breaking Bad.  Obviously we at Fish & Spaghetti have a severe affinity for the program.  Honestly we can't get enough of it.

Seriously, part of the reason we resurrected the blog was because we needed something to distract us from the lack of Breaking Bad in our lives.

But we figured that since we still had some time left, we'd try to get some predictions set in stone before, y'know, we're looking back like "we totally knew that was going to happen."

Five Things We Learned From the Third Season of Breaking Bad

In an attempt to hold us over until we jump into the next chapter of Walter White's life, practically two weeks away, we at Fish & Spaghetti recently rewatched the third season of Breaking Bad in it's entirety.

Upon reflection we realized that there were some powerful truths contained in those episodes.  And being the giving and generous people we are, we decided to share that wisdom with you, our loyal readers.

But be warned; thar be spoilers.

The Longest Month Ever!

I love Breaking Bad.  It's my favorite show on television. It's one of those shows where I can't tolerate any disruption while I'm watching it.

Like seriously, I'm shut off from the world when it's on.

So when AMC finally announced that Breaking Bad would be returning to the the airwaves on 7/17/11 I was pretty excited.  But that excitement soon turned to dread.

Scary Ass Mexicans

So Arizona's been in the press a lot lately because of the whole shooting of Congresswoman Gifford which has naturally thrust their stringent immigration policy back into the spotlight.

And for the record we at Fish & Spaghetti have nothing but the utmost respect for Mexican and Mexican-Americans and we aren't really fans of Arizona's immigration policy or crackdown on illegal immigrants and brown people in general.

That said, in pop culture there are some pretty prevalent images of scary ass Mexicans floating around.  We don't know if it's enough to justify Arizona's bashing of La Raza, but we do know that these Mexicans scare the crap out of us.

Blame Breaking Bad

Ok, so there’s clearly been a dearth of content here at Fish & Spaghetti for the past few months. I guess I’m sort of the one to blame.

After all, I’m the one who got Jay1 hooked on the current “best show on television” Breaking Bad, which is the thing that completely derailed the blog. Over the past few months Jay1, Pinky and I spend most of our free time dissecting scenes, theorizing where characters would be at the end of the season and just generally waxing Vince Gilligan’s car.

(To be 100% honest we did spend a considerable amount of time listening to Chet explain why Lost was awesome and why we should be paying attention to the final season. I'm pretty sure he gave us an episode by episode rundown for the entire show, but he lost us when he tried to explain why “the Others” were abducting children.)

Actually let me take that back. If you want to assign blame for the disrepair of the blog, here’s where it should go;

Friday Face-Off - Nancy Botwin vs Walter White

We here at Fish and Spaghetti are huge fans of the entrepreneurial spirit of America. We love the drive that causes people to go the extra mile for the extra buck. We love hustle and we completely respect those who get their grind on.

That's right; we think that drug dealers are about as American as apple pie.
